The Helper Foundation tackles Los Angeles community challenges through comprehensive programs, focusing on education and support to prevent violence and substance abuse. Their multifaceted approach includes a Prevention Program that bolsters family resilience, an Intervention Program offering crisis intervention and counseling for those affected by violence and gang activity, and a Youth Development Program that, along with the Art and Education Program, encourages personal growth through mentorship and the arts. In partnership with GRYD, the Foundation specifically aids 10-15-year-olds by addressing factors leading to school dropout and gang affiliation, promoting positive behaviors, mental health, and leadership skills. Safe Passage Programs improve neighborhood security, while collaborations with Otis College and Food Distribution Services, addressing food insecurity in areas like Venice and Mar Vista, round out their efforts to create safer, more empowered communities.
